Exploring Costa Rica's Paradise Just Got Easier For Canadians
Costa Rica’s Guanacaste airport has announced the extension of operations on the route from Montreal, Canada, to Guanacaste, effective Thursday, May 2, 2024, confirmed a member of the VINCI Airport network.
This is operated by Air Transat, routes will be available all year long, and travelers will now have increased flexibility to visit Costa Rica beyond the Canadian winter season.
They will start with 2 flights per week on Thursdays and Sundays, the route will see Air Transat flying its A321 aircraft with 198 seats. Flights will depart from Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport at 7:30 am and arrive at Guanacaste Airport at 11:30 am, offering passengers a great schedule to enjoy their stay.
In 2023, Costa Rica welcomed a higher amount of Canadians, with 242,970 arrivals. Tourists enjoyed an average stay of 14 nights and contributed an average expenditure of $106 per day during their stay.

Tourists choose to vacation in Guanacaste and engage in many activities, from soaking up the sun on immaculate beaches, many outdoor adventures, visiting volcanoes, and hot springs, and indulging in local cuisines.
William Rodriguez, Minister of Tourism, emphasized the significance of the Canadian market is large in Costa Rica.
“The Canadian market is of great relevance and constitutes the second most important market for Costa Rica in attracting tourists. This news is positive for Guanacaste and surrounding areas, especially for families dependent on tourism,” he pointed out.
